How to Make your Pose Packs Easy to Use

The biggest problems with pose packs is when people don't make them clear and easy enough to use, so here's some tips on how to make them easier to use. It makes the simming world a better place ESPECIALLY for story-tellers who will have to spend time sifting through hundreds of pose packs to find your specific one.

UPDATE: 25/07/25: I have had at least 3 hits from ChatGPT on this blog. If this is a result from one of you running this through ChatGPT to summarise it - DO NOT RUN ANY OF THIS BLOG THROUGH AI. I explain things at length to ensure CLARITY OF INSTRUCTION. If you screw up your project because you let your misinformation robot friend summarise the thing I spent HOURS writing, don't come crying to me asking for further help. And don't ask your misinformation robot friend for help either - READ THE DAMN TUTORIAL.

  • Always include your username or identifiable nickname - No one knows who [S] or [KC] is, so it's harder to search for poses on the Pose Player or in the mods folder. Always include your full username or commonly-known name/nickname in the file name AND in the pose pack name.

  • Use the Pose Description box to describe what's in the pose pack. So many people don't do this and it's annoying because it takes ages trying to remember what's in each pack. Just write something like 'fem model poses' or 'adult crying poses' or something.

  • MAKE IT CLEAR IF TELEPORT ANY SIM, ACCESSORIES OR BUILD/BUY ITEMS ARE REQUIRED. Make a note in the Pose Description or Pose Pack Description if a particular accessory, buildbuy item, or Teleport Any Sim is needed for the pose pack / individual pose.

  • USE PREVIEW IMAGES: Make sure you do these for the specific poses AND for the pose pack. There is nothing worse than a pose pack which poses DO NOT have any preview images whatsoever!

  • Highlight clearly any multi-Sim poses. Use a circle, arrow or dot to highlight which Sim in a multi-person pose the specific pose is for. Also make a note in the Pose Name. As you can see him I've shown that for multi-sim Pose D, this specific pose is for the human and not the wolf.

  • Double-check the poses in Blender and in Sims 4 Studio before uploading. This is REALLY easy to miss, especially if you're doing lots of poses. Double-check any poses or animations to make sure they're okay, and then make sure the .blend file's name is on the pose (above where it says EA Clip). If it says Blank Rig you've forgotten to import the pose and will get a T-pose in-game.

  • Use dividers to separate lots of poses if need be. Herecirmsims here has used Look Ahead, Look Up and Look Down dividers (which don't have poses on them) to separate all the relevant poses for clarity.

  • Clearly describe the pose on the pose name. It's not always clear what the pose is from the thumbnail, so give a rough description of the pose and the expression on the pose as well especially for storytelling poses.
